Polynucleotides
WHAT ARE THEY?
Polynucleotides are the building blocks to our cells, they are naturally present in our DNA. However, the ageing process can affect the quality and abilities of these building block cells. Polynucleotides are purified fragments of DNA derived from trout and salmon fish. These DNA fragments stimulate fibroblast cells to produce collagen, elastin and promote tissue regeneration. They are the building blocks within our skin that maintain the normal functions of the skin , and keep skin healthy and youthful. In short, the more polynucleotides we have, the more fibroblasts we have and the more fibroblasts we have, the greater levels of collagen and elastin we can generate. Polynucleotides have been used in medicine for many years due to their powerful regenerative capabilities. They are very much an evidence based treatment.
What brand of polynucleotides are used?
At Contour Aesthetics, we use Plinest. They are backed by over 70 years of research. Plinest are also the only brand on the market to combine polynucleotides and hyaluronic acid- โNewestโ. So you can expect deep regenerative effects as well as a healthy glow and burst of hydration from the hyaluronic acid element.
WHERE CAN THEY BE INJECTED?
Polynucleotides can be injected almost anywhere on the face and body. They're particularly great to treat undereyes. They can treat a wide range of skin concerns including lines and wrinkles, pigmentation, scarring, sun damage and general signs of ageing. They regenerate the skin from within.
COMBINED TREATMENT APPROACH
Polynucleotides can be used to prime the skin prior to rejuvenating procedures. They can also be used in combination with other rejuvenating treatments. Polynucleotides equip your skin cells with greater healing and rejuvenating powers. They prove to be even more powerful when combined with treatments such as medical microneedling, deep medical grade skin peels , PRP, radio frequency and lasers. This combination approach leads to better treatment outcomes overall. Especially, when treatment scarring and deep signs of ageing.
HOW MANY ARE NEEDED?
A course of 3-4 are generally required every 3-4 weeks. Results can be expected to last approximately 9 months. At this point a top up may be required as the ageing process does continue. Polynucleotides can help to slow this process by keeping collagen and elastin levels up but also by repairing any damaged DNA.
