WhaT is it ?

Here at Contour Aesthetics, medical microneedling is performed using the newly updated imed medical microneedling device. This is an FDA approved and CE marked device. This is a newer and more effective way to perform microneedling than the traditional method of using a roller. This device uses auscultating needles to create thousands of channels in the skin per second. This creates controlled "trauma" and the body responds with a wound healing response to produce new cells and repair damaged skin. During this process collagen and elastin production is stimulated.

Why choose microneedling?

Once you hit mid - late 20's collagen levels begin to decrease as does production. Just one session of medical microneedling can reproduce the amount of collagen lost in one year. Microneedling is great treatment for banking collagen and restoring lost collagen. Following a microneedling treatment an immediate plumping and tightening effect can be seen. Microneedling is an excellent treatment for improving the skin texture, appearance and overall quality of the skin. Something, which cannot be achieved from anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. However, microneedling can be used in-conjunction with polynucleotides, fillers and wrinkle relaxers for an optimum anti ageing treatment plan.

Where can it be used & what can be treated ?

Microneedling can be performed on the face, neck, décolletage and body to treat many skin concerns; such as lines and wrinkles, improving skin texture and elasticity, loose skin such as in the jowl area, enlarged pores, acne scarring, trauma scars, rosacea, pigmentation, stretchmarks and more.

Is microneedling suitable for all skin types and colours ?

Yes, microneedling can be performed on all skin types.

How many sessions are required ?

Microneedling usually requires a course of 6 sessions depending on what is being treated. Each session is 4-6 weeks apart. Maintenance sessions can then be performed at 3- 4 monthly intervals to ensure collagen levels and stores remain high.

Is it painful?

Absolutely not! We apply a topical anaesthesia cream so you literally don't feel a thing.

Is there any downtime ?

Immediately afterwards the treated areas will be pink, this is a normal response and is part of a biological process that follows after having a session of medical microneedling. Redness normally subsides within 24-48 hours. Light makeup/ tinted moisturiser can be applied the following day so the treatment does not interfere with daily activities or commitments.
